The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program (link) and the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program (link) are national initiatives that support undergraduate students in developing as researchers and scholars as they prepare for graduate studies.
The McNair Program specifically centers students who are first-generation, low-income (FGLI) and pursuing STEM majors, while the Mellon Mays Program focuses on students committed to expanding narratives in the humanities and social sciences.
Both programs serve juniors and seniors, providing summer and academic year FUNDING AND MENTORSHIP, as well as a COMMUNITY of students who are all striving toward the same goals.
Students are eligible to apply to Wesleyan’s chapters of these national programs during their sophomore and junior years. You can learn more about eligibility and program basics at the links above.
* Please note that these programs are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and The Mellon Foundation, and so there are U.S. citizenship requirements. If you’re curious about other options, please email Ronnie Hendrix (rhendrix@wesleyan.edu)
Sophomores and Juniors are invited to this info session to learn about the application process and additional details about program benefits!
