| Dear Students, The Office of Study Abroad is excited to inform you that, the BenjaminA. Gilman International Scholarship application is open! The Gilman Scholarship is a U.S. State Department Program that aims to make study and internship abroad more accessible and inclusive for outstanding American students of limited financial means. The March 2025 deadline application is for applicants whose in-person programs or internships start between May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. This cycle encompasses Summer 2025, Fall 2025, academic year 2025-2026, and Spring 2026 abroad programs or internships. The application deadline is Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Please be aware that the application deadline is in Pacific Time and take into consideration any time difference as you prepare to submit your application. Wesleyan students who are Pell Grant eligible, not necessarily Pell Grant recipients only, make excellent candidates for these life-changing and flexible opportunities – opportunities that benefit both you, the student, as well as our university community upon your return, and eventually your professional and personal community. Established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000 to broaden the student population that studies abroad, this program supports those who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints. The Gilman Program also supports students studying languages, especially those critical to US national security (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili and Urdu among others).
