The Office of Fellowships is hosting a panel about the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service on Thursday 2/22. The scholarship is open to sophomores who are US citizens or permanent residents or who have deferred action under DACA. Additionally, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must have demonstrated financial need. The Voyager Scholarship provides up to $50,000 of last-mile scholarship during the undergraduate years, plus $10,000 for scholars to undertake a “voyage” during the summer after junior year, and $2000 in travel funding per year for 10 years after that. Voyagers are also included in Obama Foundation networks and programming, in an of itself a valuable asset.
On Thursday 2/22 at noon in Fisk 201, we’ll be Zooming in two Voyager Scholars from other universities to tell us what the experience is really like and give interested sophomores some tips for applying. This scholarship has only been around for 2 years so far, so we want to get the word out on our campus to those who are “curious about the world” and passionate about making change.
Students can register here to help us get a head count for lunch. Faculty/staff are also welcome to attend and hear about this opportunity. Anyone with questions can write to fellowships@wesleyan.edu.
